Reno – Nevada Equine Assisted Therapy (NEAT) will hold a benefit concert at Bartley Ranch Regional Park on Saturday, September 7 to raise funds for scholarships that help kids and teens struggling with social, emotional and behavioral health issues.
NEAT is a Reno-based organization that provides therapeutic support with horses. The program works with clients of all ages treat a variety of issues from anxiety to anger management and other neuroatypical conditions. Their programs include groundwork, mounted work, peer interaction, self-reflective work, and opportunities for creative expression. Since it was founded in 2009, NEAT has provided services to more than 500 people.
NEAT recently partnered with the For Kids Foundation who sponsors several children each year to participate in the equine therapy programs. With the proceeds from the upcoming benefit concert, NEAT officials say they are hoping to expand the scholarships to provide services to at least two more clients each month.
The benefit concert will feature live entertainment from Bernice Lewis, Richard Elloyan & Steve Wade, and local band Hourly Rate. Dinner and drinks will be available from Nomnivore, Redneck Wings, and the Drink Doctor. There will also be raffle drawings for art, jewelry, and more.
